BUSY BEE LICENSED FAMILY CHILD CARE

Child Abuse/Neglect Reporting Policy

As a caregiver to children, I have the responsibility to report any suspected case of child abuse or neglect. This report is required to be made as soon as possible upon discovery and I have outlined below the procedures I would take.

If I suspect the abuse or neglect may have happened within my facility (with a volunteer, visitor or family member) then I would report it to the Boundary Health Unit Community Care Facilities Licensing in Delta (at 572-7724). I would also be required to fill out a serious incident report of any occurrence within my child care facility.

If I suspect the abuse or neglect has happened outside of my facility (home, relatives or another care situation) or if a child discloses to me information of abuse, I would need to report to an intake worker at the Ministry for Children and Families (at 501-3237).

I will document the incident/observation, the phone call I make regarding the suspected case, any directions given to me and by whom. All of these documents will be signed, dated and filed and will be kept strictly confidential.
